Hi, I’m Gail!

I created "Spoonful of Sunshines" to bring people together over a common love of food and creating peak moments that you will remember for a lifetime.

A California Dream Come True

"Spoonful of Sunshines" honors my family's once-upon-a-time "California Dream" to connect our culture with the community through food and celebrations. That dream fuels my passion to craft epically delicious and FUN memories for families, friends, and anyone more than a little bit obsessed with food.

Food has always been at the center of my family. Expressing love through food was my destiny calling before I was even born!

About me

My family first immigrated from Thailand in the 70's and opened up restaurants and night clubs throughout the San Francisco Bay Area to provide jobs and a safe community for the multitude of siblings, cousins, nephews, and nieces who wanted to live out their own American Dream. In 1986, my parents planted their own flag in Berkeley, opening up a Thai/American restaurant called "California Dream" with the intention of building a family legacy in the states. To this day, my favorite memories of my childhood include playing under the magical glow of a disco ball, ordering Shirley Temples at the bar between dinner and late night service, and voraciously eating mountains of the best, most authentic Thai food at community gatherings hosted at our family restaurants.

While food has been a life-long passion, it wasn’t until 2010 that I began to moonlight in the food and service industry and in 2012, I quit my 9-5 office job to follow my heart and immerse myself in the world of hospitality. Over the course of the next 12 years, I gained experience in the San Francisco Bay Area, the island of Oahu, and Los Angeles County in every position possible, from restaurant prep cook to catering server to event production to sales and management. I’ve had the opportunity to learn every nook and cranny of the industry from some of the greatest mentors and professionals. In 2014, I began planning friends’ weddings as a fun side hustle and discovered a new way to marry love and food. I also planned my own wedding where I married the most talented and loving Chef Greg Reid, currently Sous Chef at the renowned Manhattan Beach Post in Manhattan Beach, CA.

As an expert and breather of all things events and tasty shindigs, please allow us to bring your world together through food and events.

Ever have a crispy sweet and savory “marquesita”? Exploring the local street eats in different cities is always my favorite part on any trip to better understand flavors and cultures, so we can bring this back to your table. #foodieadventures
